  • Issue ride signup sheets early

  • Coordinate and assist other volunteer groups

  • Interface with public land managers on issues that are important to horsemen

    • Participate in the San Juan Public Lands Center plan revision
    • Participate in San Juan Public Lands Center Travel Management Planning
    • Participate in planning for the Hermosa Wilderness and Special Management Area
    • Review National Forest and BLM projects
    • Oppose fees for basis access to public lands
    • Monitor and support right-to-ride legislation
    • Participate in planning for recreation at Lake Nighthorse

    Present the mission and goals of the Back Country Horsemen of America to the pubic

    • Seek outreach opportunities, particularly with other back country users and youth groups
    • Utilize the 4CBCH PowerPoint presentation

    Monitor other issues important to horsemen

    • La Plata County comprehensive plan and land use code
    • Private property rights
    • Unwanted horses and the humane treatment of horses
