4CBCH Projects for the Farmer Cabin
The cabin was professionally sanitized and cleaned this fall. Work parties have been busy at the cabin getting the cabin mouse-proofed by stuffing the holes with copper mesh supplied by the Forest Service. Mouse traps have been set throughout the cabin and members have been running the trap line and checking on the condition of the cabin. Broken windows have been replaced and plywood nailed over them for winter protection. The area around the cabin has been cleared.
We are now looking forward to spring and what needs to be done to get the cabin ready for group use. If you are interested in joining a work party contact Sherri Libby at sherri@durango.net. We are also looking for donated items. Lanterns, wood furniture, mouse-proof storage containers and other items that would make the cabin more comfortable.
Chinking
Chink the logs on the south and west sides with bagged, dry premixed concrete like Quikrete. Because the north and east side sill logs will be replaced, any chinking installed could fall out when the sill logs are replaced.
