The Tack & Equipment Consignment Sale took place on Saturday, April 14th, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. The annual event began on Friday as the doors burst open at 9:00 a.m. with 133 people eager to consign their items for sale. The 65 volunteers each day from the 4CBCH were trained and ready to help them by tagging their items and putting them out on display.
By 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, the Exhibit Hall doors opened again and the sale began as hoards of buyers rushed in. Between searching for that perfect bit or that comfy pair of broken-in boots, shoppers got to socialize with just about everyone they hadn't run into for awhile. The sale seems to have morphed into the social event of the season!
While the 65 saddles that were sold will be supporting their new rider, the proceeds of the sale will go to support the work of the Four Corners Back Country Horsemen to benefit everyone who enjoys our public lands.
A big thank you to everyone who consigned, bought, sold, donated, and volunteered! Our volunteers never went hungry thanks to the efforts of Sherri Libby and Pat Amthor who got donations from Papa Murphy's (10 pizzas), Wal-Mart ($50 gift card), City Market ($50 gift card), and Coca-Cola Bottling (4 cases of drinks).
